AI and Teaching: Opportunities, Challenges, and Responsibilities
No topic in education has been more written or talked about over the past year than artificial intelligence (AI) and its emergence in such tools as ChatGPT and Google Bard. For this semester’s FDEC Day, we invite you to join us for a wide-ranging examination of the subject, including where we stand with the technology at the end of 2023; how some colleagues are deploying it in their classrooms; and the conversations others are having about the challenges and responsibilities that come with AI. The event will feature a plenary address followed by a series of guided and hands-on activities - all led by faculty and academic colleagues from across the university - and promises to engage us all in a provocative discussion and sharing of ideas. The Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee welcomes all faculty to participate in this important and timely conversation, no matter what your current perspective on the technology may be. We look forward to seeing you there.
