Friday, October 18th—12:00 – 1:30 pm
The evening of Sunday, October 13, 2019 begins the 7-day Jewish Fall Harvest Festival of Sukkot. It dates to biblical times and is the holiday on which Thanksgiving is based.
Undergraduates in Dr. Ellen Umansky’s Judaic Studies classes, with help from a few faculty and staff, will be building and decorating a sukkah (hut) in the plaza between Canisius and Donnarumma Halls on Thursday afternoon October 10 at 3:30.
All members of the University community are invited to come into the sukkah any time between the evening of October 13 and 20. There will be a table and chairs. It’s a nice place to eat a meal, relax and visit with friends and colleagues. Please bring your lunch, unless it’s raining, and join Ellen Umansky and Jennifer Haynos of the Bennett Center for Judaic Studies and Rabbi Jim Prosnit from campus ministry for lunch. Beverages and dessert provided.
