FREE FOR STUDENTS: CT Women’s Hall of Fame Holds Generational Panel Women and the Climate Crisis

The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame (CWHF) will be holding Generations: A Conversation Between – Women and the Climate Crisis at 7:00PM, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at The Quick Center for the Performing Arts, 1073 N Benson Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824. STUDENTS ARE FREE.
“A Conversation Between” is an open, educational, and inspiring real-time dialogue between women of varying ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. “Join us for an inspirational evening as four generations of women discuss how the climate crisis affects us, what we are doing about it and how we can unite for positive change.” said Sarah Smith Lubarsky, Executive Director, CWHF.”
Panelists:
- President Elsa M. Núñez - Boomer: Dr. Elsa M. Núñez is the President of Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU). Under her leadership, ECSU received a Gold rating by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System and was Gold-rated by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. Dr. Nunez is committed to the role of higher education in sustainability and climate action.
- Dr. Anji Seth – Generation X Dr. Anji Seth is Professor of Climate Science and Climate History and Interim Head in the Department of Geography and chairs the Atmospheric Sciences Group at the University of Connecticut. Anji is exploring the climate problem from an integrative geographic perspective that recognizes humans as essential players. She recently led an assessment of climate change for Connecticut.
- Mayor Caroline Simmons – Millennial Caroline Simmons was elected the Mayor of Stamford, Connecticut in 2021. Mayor Simmons is prioritizing policies to make Stamford a more sustainable and resilient community. She launched the Mayor’s Climate Council for sustainability related projects and initiatives. Under her direction the city has launched its first greenhouse gas inventory.
- Katharine “Kat” Morris – Generation Z - Katharine (Kat) Morris is a rad scholar-activist for intersectional environmental justice with a Master of Public Policy from UCONN. Her TEDx UConn talk, How to Collaborate for Environmental Justice, is a call to action on environmental racism, health inequities, and how to organize communities using radical love and intersectionality.
