It’s less than a month until Final Exams begin for the spring semester, which means that the CAE has been closely collaborating with the Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee to plan this semester’s FDEC Day event. Scheduled to take place on May 2, from 12:15 to 2:30 p.m., in the Dolan School of Business Event Hall, the program is titled “Build, Sustain, Enhance, Advance: Making your Research Work for You,” and will focus on a wide range of topics of regarding faculty research and all of the supports that are available for it.
The day will begin with a plenary address from Dr. Erica Hartwell, Associate Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy in the School of Education and Human Development, who will talk about her research journey at Fairfield: how she has sustained her work, what obstacles she’s had to overcome, and how she’s utilized leaves and campus resources to achieve her research goals. This will be followed by two sets of breakout sessions covering such topics as IRB Issues; Doing Research with Students; Switching Research Directions after Tenure; Community-Engaged Research; How to Succeed with Grant Applications; Artificial Intelligence in Research; and Tech Tools that Can Help Your Research. These breakouts will be repeated in both sessions, giving attendees the chance to join two different discussions during the day.
As always, FDEC Day will feature a delicious buffet lunch provided by the Provost’s Office, and offer everyone the chance to re-connect with one another and share ideas and plans for work and more.
