Please join us in celebrating the publication of Generación Hijes: memoria, posdictadura y posconflicto en América Latina (Hijes Generation: Memory, Postdictatorship, and Postconflict in Latin America), coedited by Carolina Añón Suárez, who teaches Spanish in the department of Modern Languages and Literatures. This volume studies the artistic and literary practices of new memory generations in Latin America. It analyzes the diverse ways of experiencing and telling the marks of violence and political repression. By shaking linguistic codes, Generación Hijes collects voices anchored in present temporalities, denouncing both the crimes of the past and other contemporary forms of violence. These voices open the construction of memory to new critical gazes, inviting us to keep exploring its fissures.

This event, which is sponsored by the department of Modern Languages & Literatures, is free and open to the public.
