New Wellness Resources Available For Students

Date: 03-20-2023

Time: 08:30 AM

“We have exciting news to share: In our continued effort to expand the mental health and wellness support offered to students, students who are in crisis or in distress after-hours will now have the opportunity to speak with an on-call counselor by calling Counseling & Psychological Services directly. The new on-call system provides mental health support to any student who calls, regardless of the nature of the problem. Furthermore, faculty and staff who are concerned about a Fairfield student outside of regular C&PS business hours can now reach an on-call counselor directly to discuss their concerns. In order to reach the on-call counselor after-hours (4:30pm-8:30am M-F) and on weekends (4:30pm-8:30am F-M), faculty and staff should call C&PS at 203-254-4000, ext. 2146 from an off-campus phone and press 1 to be routed to the on-call counselor immediately. Please note that Public Safety should still be the first line of contact in the event of an emergency. Public Safety: 203.254.4090.

The email below has been sent to students in order to make them aware of the various supports available to them. Please reach out to Martin Pino, AVP-Health & Wellness (mpino@fairfield.edu) if you have any questions and/or would like to invite him to meet with your department to further discuss this initiative.”

Welcome back from what we hope was an enjoyable and restorative spring break! As you transition back to classes and life at Fairfield U, we would like to make you aware of new Wellness resources available to you through Counseling & Psychological Services (C&PS).

New After-Hours Mental Health Crisis Support

We are excited to offer newly expanded after-hours mental health support for Fairfield University students who are in crisis or distress. Students who are in need of after-hours support for mental health concerns now have the opportunity to speak directly with an on-call counselor via phone. In order to reach the on-call counselor after-hours (Monday-Friday, 4:30pm-8:30am) and on weekends (Friday- Monday, 4:30pm-8:30am), call C&PS at 203-254-4000 (ext. 2146) from an off-campus phone and, when prompted, press 1 to be routed to the on-call counselor immediately. Please note that if you or a peer are experiencing an emergency, please call Public Safety at 203.254.4090.
