Graduate Student Senate Nominations

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is seeking nominations to fill the five available positions for the 3rd Session of the Graduate Student Senate for the 2019-2020 academic year. To nominate a graduate student in your program, please fill out this form by Wednesday, May 1st, 2019!

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the Graduate Student Senate, the GSS is the elected representative body of the graduate student body at Fairfield University and is part of the shared governance structure of the institution.  The GSS is comprised of five senators, one from each college/school, with each individual Senator being elected by their constituents from their respective college/school in early May. They are charged with advocating for student needs/issues and helping build community amongst our graduate students.  Senators meet in person (or remotely) once or twice a month to vote on resolutions, approve Graduate student organizations, allocate funding to Graduate student organizations, plan social events, strategize next steps in GSS initiatives, and manage their $10,000+ budget.

The GSS has been instrumental in providing access to the RecPlex for all graduate students and for advocating for Health Insurance for full-time graduate students.  They've met with senior leadership this year and have been involved in high-level conversations about the future of graduate students at Fairfield University.

If you know of any students who you think would strongly advocate for Graduate Students, or who have expressed innovative ideas about how to improve services on campus, ease the transition/orientation process for graduate students who are unfamiliar with our campus, build community, or address any long-standing or immediate problem affecting graduate students, please consider nominating them for a GSS position!

The nomination form closes on Wednesday, May 1st, and Elections will run from Monday, May 6th - Friday, May 10th.
