REMINDER- Restructuring Academic Support Services
REMINDER- RESTRUCTURING & REDEFINING ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES
Friends and Colleagues,
With academic year 2019-20 underway, I wanted to take a moment to remind you about some key initiatives that pertain to student academic services. As you are undertaking your important work with our students, whether via the classrooms, the residence halls, the spiritual and contemplative spaces, the social and recreational venues, or elsewhere across our community, please know that the following academic services are available to support our students:
The Career Center*
Location: Kelley Center
Phone ext. 4081
*Students in Dolan and in The College are encouraged to first connect with their career directors and counselors in the career and professional development centers located within their respective schools (Dolan- Career Suite; The College- CNS 7 suite)
Project EXCEL
Location: BCC Lower Level
Phone ext. 4064
Office of Academic Support & Retention
Location: Academic Commons- 1st floor, Dimenna-Nyselius Library
Phone ext. 2222
Office of Accessibility**
Location: Academic Commons- 1st floor, Dimenna-Nyselius Library
Phone ext. 2615
**IMPORTANT- all accessibility resources (e.g., alternative testing environments; proctoring; etc.) are now occurring in the Accessibility Office suite of the Academic Commons. This is where you should send/drop off materials when necessary, as well as where students need to go for accommodations.
Joining Accessibility and Academic Support & Retention in the Dimenna-Nyselius Library are the Writing Center, Math Tutoring, the ITS Helpdesk, as well as the Fredrickson Family Innovation Lab and the Center for Academic Excellence. At the “heart” of all these resources is the university Library, with its staff of professionals and scholars who create a truly welcoming and invigorating learning environment for the entire university community. A formal announcement of the Academic Commons will follow in the near-future.
