Zoom Cloud Recording Retention Policy Extended to March 1st
Date: 03-01-2023
In response to faculty and staff feedback, we will be extending the deadline for the Zoom Cloud Recordings to March 1st. On March 1st, videos older than 1 year will be moved to your trash folder on Zoom. You will then have 30 days to move any videos from Zoom Cloud Recordings to Kaltura or they will be permanently deleted. If you need assistance this process, Academic Computing is happy to assist.
Zoom cloud recordings older than 1 year (365 days) will automatically be sent to a trash folder for 30 days before being permanently deleted. Note: This policy does not apply to Zoom recordings stored locally on your computer.
ITS implemented an integration between Zoom and Kaltura, a University-supported video streaming tool, in Spring 2022 which backed up all cloud recordings to Kaltura automatically. For recordings older than March, 2022, ITS recommends downloading the files you wish to keep from Zoom and uploading them to Kaltura. Steps to move files from Zoom to Kaltura can be found in the ITS Wiki: Zoom Cloud Recordings and Kaltura My Media.
