Linguistic Justice: From Theory to Praxis by Dr. April Baker-Bell
Date: 03-08-2023
Time: 04:00 PM
Location: zoom
The Core Writing program, the Connecticut Writing Project, and the University Writing Center are excited to announce two upcoming events!
On Wednesday, March 8th at 4pm, Dr. April Baker-Bell (Michigan State University) will lead faculty in a guided, interactive, online workshop that will support participants in integrating the ideas from Baker-Bell's book Linguistic Justice, available as an e-book in our library, into their curriculum and instruction. This workshop will include activity-based exercises, such as reflection/preflection activities, syllabus design, and strategies for teaching. Participants will receive a digital workbook that can be downloaded for further use. This 90-minute workshop will be held via Zoom, and participants should pre-register here.
To prepare for Baker-Bell’s workshop, we will host a book club the week before where we, as a faculty group, can get together, book club-style, to discuss Linguistic Justice and how it might impact Fairfield students. This event will take place on March 1, 4:00 pm. Participants should have read the book (in all or parts) by the time of the book club. To participate in the book club, please complete this Google Form by Friday, Feb. 24.
Faculty are invited to attend one or both of these events!
