Fairfield University Jazz Ensemble Presents Annual Spring Concert, April 25th

The Ensemble’s Spring concert will feature special guest, vocalist Amanda Barise

alongside Fairfield University students and community members.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (April 16, 2019)—The Fairfield University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Brian Q. Torff, will present its annual Spring Concert onThursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gonzaga Auditorium, with special guest, vocalist Amanda Barise. Admission is $5.00.

Amanda Barise has performed on stages across America including renowned venues such as the New York City’s Cotton Club, OSPAC Theater and IZod Center where she was the youngest artist ever on stage. Barise has sung the National Anthem at nationally televised events for the New Jersey Nets and HBO Boxing. At the ages of nine, ten, and eleven, Barise won first-place in the solo vocalist category for three consecutive years in the Starpower National Talent competition. She has twice won the Future Stars Competition at the famous Apollo Theater.

“Amanda Barise is an exceptional vocalist brimming with talent,” said Fairfield University’s Music Program Director Brian Q. Torff. “We are pleased to bring her to guest star with the Jazz Ensemble at this early stage of her career.”

Barise started with American Standards, then moved on to Jazz, Blues and Motown, and has studied and learned from the greats in all of these genres. For the past twelve years, she has studied with Kate Baker, professional vocal coach and internationally recognized Jazz vocalist. Barise’s songbook includes selections from Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and others.
