Join the Directors of Core Writing and the Writing Center, as well as faculty who are developing Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID) courses, to consider how writing can enhance teaching and learning in the courses that you teach.
FDEC Day will begin with brief introductions from the Directors of Core Writing and the Writing Center. This will be followed by breakout table discussions, led by WAC Consultantsand faculty members across campus who are developing Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID) courses. Discussion leaders will share how they infusewriting pedagogy in their courses, develop course writing assignments, and provide responses to student writing. The session will conclude with workshop time, during which facultywill have collaborative opportunities to consider how their own course syllabi and writing assignments could align with WAC/WID learning outcomes. Attendees are asked to come with a specific course syllabus or writing assignment in mind, to think about the role that writing can play in their courses moving forward.
