TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS--Theatre Fairfield's Opening Production of the 2022-23 Season

TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS by Nia Vardalos, based on the book by Cheryl Strayed, opens live and in person in the Wien Blackbox Theatre at the Quick Center for the Arts on Tuesday, October 18, at 7:30 PM. Tickets are on sale now at the Quick Center Box Office, X4010, online at quickcenter.fairfield.edu/box-office, or in person and are $5 for ALL students and $10 general admission. There are 5 performances: Tuesday, Oct. 18 through Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 PM, and a Saturday matinee on Oct. 22 at 2:00 PM.

The play is a loving adaptation of Strayed's New York Times best-selling book about her anonymous career as Sugar, an online advice columnist. Sugar employs radical empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small. This is a play
about reaching when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on the questions which have no answers. There is a Content Advisory we ask you to consider: Tiny Beautiful Things is about truly listening and understanding others. The play includes discussions of sensitive topics such as sexual assault, self-harm/suicide, and mortality, and is for Mature Audiences Only.

Our company features Nora Jacobi, '25, as Sugar, and Katharine Gutkoski, '26, Lillie Kortrey, '23, Anthony Lupercio, '26, and Ryan Theobald, '26, as letter writers. Audience favorite Emily Ramsey, '20, has returned to Theatre Fairfield as stage manager, and she is ably assisted by Cara Rommeney, '26. Frequent guest artist Tom Schwans is Directing, Lynne Porter is set designer, Julie Leavitt-Learson is costume designer, Lynne Chase, is lighting designer, and we are pleased to welcome Jamie Monahan, our newest Theatre Fairfield guest artist, as Intimacy Director.

The show runs 80 minutes without intermission. This is a wonderful play for the Fairfield community since we are dedicated to service for others and Social Justice---Tiny Beautiful Things in a nutshell.

Theatre Fairfield is not requiring vaccinations/boosters for audience members this season but we ask that you please bring a mask with you to the theatre that will completely cover your nose and mouth. We want to keep our production company---and you, our audiences---safe and healthy.
