"TRANSLATING RHYTHM AND RHYME FROM DANTE TO SORRENTINO" - a lecture by Prof. Virginia Jewiss, Johns Hopkins University

Please come to a lecture by Prof. Virginia Jewiss of Johns Hopkins University on “Translating Rhythm and Rhyme from Dante to Sorrentino” on Thursday, April 7 at 5pm in the Multimedia Room of the library. Prof. Jewiss, who holds a PhD from Yale University, recently published a translation of Dante’s La vita nuova (Penguin, March 2022) and Pirandello’s Novelle per un anno/Stories for the Years (Yale University Press, 2020).  She has translated the work of numerous Italian authors and film directors, including Roberto Saviano’s Gomorrah, Melania Mazzucco’s Vita, and screenplays for Gabriele Salvatores and Paolo Sorrentino whose most recent film, E’ stata la mano di Dio/The Hand of God, was nominated for an Academy Award.
