Network Downtime - Network Security Patching 1/9/2022 starting at 5am

The reason for the outage: 

In order to bring our network componentry up to current software security standards ITS will be applying new software to all of our major network hardware.

The date and time of the shutdown: 

Software updates will commence at approximately 5:00am on Sunday morning. All work is expected to be complete by 09:00am.

Services that will be down: 

All network based resources. The entire network will be inaccessible while these software updates are made. This means Email, Desk Phones, Websites, My.Fairfield.edu, Remote Network Access, Blackboard, Workday, Banner, etc. will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

Services that will remain online:

Cellular service, and campus fire monitoring will not be impacted during this work.

If everything goes as planned:

No action is necessary. ITS will issue an update once all network access has been reinstated. If you have an emergency and need to contact Public Safety please dial 911, use the LiveSafe App, or during the network event you can call 203-255-2400  for non emergency events.

Who you should contact if you have concerns/questions:

After our updates are completed normal email and network service will resume. If you find you are still unable to access Fairfield University resources, please contact the Fairfield ITS Helpdesk at itshelpdesk@fairfield.edu or by calling 203-254-4069.
