*“HOW I DID IT” - DE-MYSTIFYING THE GRANT PROCESS: STORIES FROM THE FIELD*

Join the Office of Research and Grants on Wednesday, December 1 at 12pm as we engage in a conversation with faculty who have successfully written and obtained grants and engaged firsthand with government and foundation donors. This event will be held in the Office of Research and Grants, Donnarumma Hall, Suite 255 and via Zoom.

The program will run from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM with 45 minutes of presentation and 30 minutes of Q&A and discussions. Attendees will learn from a diverse group of Fairfield University faculty about the pursuit and stewardship of grant funding for research, student programming and will find inspiration and connections within the Fairfield University research community. • Julie Berrett-Abebe, Assistant Professor of Marriage & Family Therapy, HRSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) grant providing internship stipends and advanced training to 103 master’s level students in four behavioral health programs
• Shannon Gerry, Associate Professor of Biology, NSF RUI collaborative research proposal “Evaluating Form-Function-Fitness Relationships in Polyphenic Bluegill“
• Mehmet Cansoy, Assistant Professor of Sociology & Anthropology, grants for The Carbon Footprint of Airbnb (Environmental Law Institute and The Internet Society Foundation) and Understanding Emissions of Short-term Visitors (Yale University and Sloan Foundation).
• Elif Kongar, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, funding from Constellation’s E2 Energy to Educate grant program for SuSTEMability, a program that will engage over 100 students and several educators from Cesar Batalla School and Wakeman Boys and Girls in STEM education and hands-on activities using real-world issues that surround environmentally sound and sustainable energy sources.
