However, her story really began decades earlier. As a young student, she was an overachiever, self-professed “nerd” and “mathlete.” Coming from a military family that can be traced back to WWI, it’s no surprise that with her extraordinary intellectual gifts, she would eventually join the armed services. At the age of 21, she began serving in the Navy as one of the first women in its nuclear program.
After a health condition resulted in a medical discharge, Gill headed to San Diego to complete her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science. Since that time, she has received a master’s degree from National University, took time off to tour with a band, and in 2015 received her Ph.D. in Health Administration.
In 2017, Gill started her first podcast, Mueller, She Wrote, out of her kitchen. The podcast is a binder filled with women unraveling the mysteries of the Mueller investigation and wrapping it up into tasty bites for human consumption. When the government investigated the podcast, Trump had her fired, even though she had been working with them for more than 11 years. Still needing to satisfy her thirst for equal justice for all, she became the host of The Daily Beans, a women-owned and operated progressive news podcast where you can find your social justice and political news with just the right amount of snark. She is very dedicated to the separation of facts and theory and works hard to make sure listeners know which is which. “The truth is the goal, and facts are the tools,” says Gill.
She is an advocate for women veterans and equality within the VA system for female veterans and their families and lobbies congress on women veteran issues.
Allison Gill has a new book in the works.
The Literary Salon is the virtual 'book club hour' for Fairfield University.
