Theatre Fairfield is Back LIVE! THE THANKSGIVING PLAY opens Oct. 20!

Date: 10-20-2021

Time: 07:30 PM

Location: Wien Black Box Theatre, Quick Center for the Arts

Theatre Fairfield is thrilled to welcome everyone back to LIVE THEATRE with our opening production of the 2021-22 theatre season, The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse. This hilarious comedy skewers four well-intentioned white educators trying to devise a politically correct First Thanksgiving play for an elementary school. Please join us LIVE and IN-PERSON at the Wien Black Box Theatre, Quick Center for the Arts, October 20-24, 2021. Tickets are on sale now at the Quick Center Box Office--$10 general admission and $5 for all students. To get your tickets, call the Box Office at X4010, take a stroll to the Quick Center to buy tickets in person OR buy tickets online at https://quickcenter.fairfield.edu.

The cast features Theatre Fairfield favorite performers, Tracy Ferguson, '22, Carlin Fournier, '22, Jay Martins, '22, and Emily Sheridan, '24, and welcomes newcomers Kai Halm, '24, Angelo Corsini, '25 and Nora Jacobi, '25. Lillie Kortrey, '23, is stage managing with Angelo Corsini, '25, as her able assistant.

New York-based director, Jackob Hofmann, returns to Theatre Fairfield with this production--his earlier hits include Silent Sky and Avenue Q. Hofmann sees The Thanksgiving Play as a call to action for audiences as they witness hilarious yet cringeworthy performative moments of the four lead characters fumbling through the minefields of their own wokeness and white privilege. Quoting playwright FastHorse, a member of the Sicangu Lakota Nation, Hofmann affirms her perspective on what with a less delicate touch could make for a difficult rather than hysterically funny evening of theatre: “Laughter gives us energy. Laughter gives us more time. It actually adds time to your life. So, I’m giving you information and I’m giving you more time to change the world. You’re welcome, American Theatre.”

Please come and laugh--a lot--as you return to the theatre! Theatre Fairfield also offers the option of watching from home on our YouTube channel. Each performance will be broadcast live from the theatre, so you have a choice of buying a "return to in-person theatre" ticket OR a livestream ticket. Please review Theatre Fairfield's new Ticketing Policy, available on our website and via the Quick Center Box Office. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 20-23 at 7:30 PM with two weekend matinees at 2:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23-24.

We look forward to SEEING you at the theatre! Welcome Back!
Best regards,
Marti LoMonaco, Producer, Theatre Fairfield
