Film Series: Chinese Filmmaker Jia Zhangke's "Ash is Purest White" & Post-screening Zoom Discussion

This event is part of our HI-funded film series, "Asian Cinema as World Cinema." The screening starts at 5pm and is followed by a companion post-screening roundtable discussion via zoom at 8pm. 

"Ash is Purest White" is a 2018 Chinese drama made by Jia Zhangke, one of the foremost contemporary filmmakers in the world. A love story between a mobster and his girlfriend, it also makes a poignant social commentary on the changes that have taken place during the last few decades in China.
