Theatre Fairfield’s Final Production of the 2020-2021 Season:
“[title of show]” by Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen
April 14-18, 2021
Fairfield University
Theatre Fairfield is thrilled to produce a LIVE production, brought to you via YouTube, of
the funny/hopeful/endearing meta-musical, [title of show]. This is a jubilant musical show about two guys writing a musical show about two guys writing a musical show who invite their two woman friends to help out with both writing and performing. It's a slightly fictionalized version of their "real story" when [title of show] began in a tiny venue at the first New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004 and eventually made it to Broadway in 2008. It was a wild ride--and so is the show.
We're rehearsing and broadcasting LIVE from the Wien Black Box Theatre at the Quick Center April 14-18 for 6 performances. Anne Kendall, our very clever technical director designed and built COVID-safe actor pods so that our 4 actor-singer-dancers and 1 pianist-actor can safely sing together (with no latency delays) with masks off. The rest of us--musical director, movement director, videographer, stage managers, and me--all are in the theatre with masks ON and proper social distancing. We communicate via microphones, well-projected voices, and waving through plexiglass windows. ANYTHING for live theatre--and, I'm happy to say, it's working well. We've created a really interesting series of short videos, "Part of It All," on the making of the show, which will show you exactly how we are doing it. Please go to our website: https://www.theatre-fairfield.org/titleofshow.
The “[title of show]” cast features Kiersten Bjork ’21, Tracy Ferguson ’22, Carlin Fournier ’22, Brady Hanney ’24, and guest artist Kenneth Gartman.
