Important Changes to COVID-19 Surveillance Testing
Date: 03-16-2021
Location: RecPlex
Important Changes for Fully Vaccinated Employees
The CDC has released interim recommendations for fully vaccinated people in non-healthcare settings. People are considered fully vaccinated >2 weeks after the last dose of a complete COVID-19 vaccination regimen. Therefore, effective immediately, the University will lift the requirement that fully vaccinated employees continue to participate in weekly surveillance testing. In order to be exempted from testing 2 weeks after being fully vaccinated, please submit proof of vaccination to COVIDHR@fairfield.edu.
Mandatory Weekly Surveillance Testing
With the exception of those exempted from weekly surveillance testing, mandatory weekly testing for the entire on-campus population, including faculty and staff, is extended through April 8, 2021.
For the remainder of March, testing will continue at the RecPlex by appointment on Sundays from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, and on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Due to the Easter Holiday, there will be no surveillance testing on-campus for employees on Sunday April 4th and Monday April 5th. Testing times that week will be as follows:
- Tuesday April 6, 2021 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (updated)
- Wednesday April 7, 2021 10 am – 4:00 pm
- Thursday April 8, 2021 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
StagCards that are active on April 1 will remain active until April 10, 2021, to give you an opportunity to test and get results.
Testing is by appointment only, and tests may be booked up until the evening before. Please use this link to schedule your tests:

In addition to the Broad on-campus test, we will accept results from private Covid-19 PCR or antigen tests. For University Health Plan participants, the cost of these tests are covered under the University’s medical plan. Private test results only must be submitted to COVIDHR@fairfield.edu. Employees who have submitted proof of a positive COVID-19 test are exempt from testing for 90 days.
Missed Appointments
In order to keep wait times to a minimum, we strongly encourage you to take your test at your designated appointment time. But we understand that on occasion you may have a legitimate reason to miss your appointment. If you miss your appointment and are unable to reschedule, you will be permitted to walk-in during normal testing hours, however you will be directed to a separate line for people without an appointment, and wait time may be longer than normal.
***Testing requirements are subject to change based on State and DPH guidance and campus positivity rates.***
