50th Anniversary of Women at Fairfield University, Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality and Campus Ministry

Present

St. Ignatius of Loyola was supported spiritually and financially by a group of women in Manresa, Spain during the 16th Century. This group of women called themselves "the Inigas" and committed their lives to living out the charism of Ignatian spirituality. This commitment is sustained today through the contributions of women students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are living out their vocations as Inigas in all walks of life.

The Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality welcomes the Reverend Deborah Roy as part of the speaker series marking Fairfield's 50th anniversary of co-education. Reverend Roy will guide participants on a 90 minute retreat focusing on the spiritual gifts found in waiting. The retreat will include time for individual and small group reflection. All are welcome!

The Rev. Deborah Roy is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and a Certified Spiritual Director.  She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School and a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Yale Divinity School with a focus on Monastic Spirituality.  Deborah served three churches as a solo pastor in Vermont and Connecticut before her calling to Spiritual Direction as her fulltime ministry.  She has been with the Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality since August 2017 and also sees directees in Manhattan, where she currently resides.  Deborah has been part of the extended community of Glastonbury Abbey, a Benedictine community in Massachusetts, for fifteen years where she often leads retreats.  She became an oblate of the abbey in 2011.
