Employee 2021 Payroll Tax Notice – CT Paid Family Leave

The State of Connecticut passed the Paid Family & Medical Leave Act in June 2019.  This act allows employees to access paid time off to meet personal and family health needs.  For more information on the specific benefits available through this new act, please visit www.ctpaidleave.org.  

Effective 1/1/2021, all CT-based employees will have 0.5% of their wages withheld from all payments processed via payroll.  The maximum Paid Family & Medical Leave tax to be withheld in 2021 is $714.  If you have any questions or concerns about this payroll tax, please contact payroll@fairfield.edu.

Please note that while payroll deductions commence effective 1/1/2021, employees cannot access the paid time off benefit from the State until 1/1/2022.  If you have questions regarding benefits under the CT Paid Family & Medical Leave plan in 2022, please contact bjosovitz@fairfield.edu.
