Kris Sealey - "Creolizing the Nation". - Virtual Book Launch

Date: 10-16-2020

Time: 04:00 PM

Location: Virtual on Eventbrite.com

Join us for the virtual book launch of Kris Sealey's new book. Creolizing the Nation identifies the nation-form as a powerful resource for political struggles against colonialism, racism, and other manifestations of Western hegemony in the Global South even as it acknowledges the homogenizing effects of the politics of nationalism. Drawing on Caribbean, decolonial, and Latina feminist resources, Sealey argues that creolization provides a rich theoretical ground for rethinking the nation and deploying its political and cultural apparatus to imagine more just, humane communities.

This event is presented by Northwestern University Press and the University of Memphis and co-sponsored by the Southern Journal of Philosophy, Fairfield University College of Arts  and Sciences, Department of Philosophy, and the Humanities Institute.

Please note that this event is presented at 4 p.m. EST - the Eventbrite invitation announces the event for 3 p.m. CST
