CAE / Ed Tech Program Workshop: Copyright, Creative Commons, and OER Licensing

Date: 07-24-2020

Time: 01:00 PM

Location: Zoom

The Center for Academic Excellence is now taking reservations for the second in a series of workshops on Open Pedagogy, co-sponsored with GSEAP’s Educational Technology program and run by Kevin Corcoran, the Executive Director of Digital Learning for Connecticut and an adjunct professor at Fairfield. Copyright, Creative Commons, and OER Licensing follows up on our first session covering student contributions to public knowledge, and will take place on Friday, July 24, at 1 pm on Zoom.  The 60-minute session will review copyright, Fair Use, and the Creative Commons license structure that allows learning resources to be openly licensed (known as OER, or Open Educational Resources) and will guide participants through selecting the appropriate license for a piece of work.

The final workshop, Open Pedagogy Adoption, will occur on August 7. Please note that faculty who attended either or both of the first two sessions, on July 7 and July 24, will be given priorty for the August 7 session on Open Pedagogy Adoption.

This series of workshops is made possible by a State of Connecticut grant received by Dr. Joshua Elliott, and is part of a larger initiative on the part of the Educational Technology program, the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, and the Center for Academic Excellence to promote equal access to resources and the sharing of students' academic creations.

To register for the Copyright, Creative Commons, and OER Licensing workshop, please visit the CAE’s sign-up page https://www.123formbuilder.com/form-5558701/form. Attendance for this July 24 workshop will be capped at 25, so if you’re interested please register early.
