Newly Revised Position to Support First-Year Students: Apply to be a Community Associate for the First-Year Experience Program
The Office of Student Engagement is officially launching the selection process for the newly revised Community Associate (CA) Position for the First Year Experience Program. We are seeking approximately 25 faculty or staff dedicated to the success of our first-year students. The CA position entails a stipend for mentoring, teaching, coaching, and supporting approximately 50 first-year students in two FYE seminars over the academic year.
Compensation and special notes:
- CAs will receive a $2,500 stipend for serving a full academic year. In the event that a CA does not serve the full year for any reason, the stipend will be pro-rated.
- Due to COVID-19 and the current safety measures in place at the University and in the State of CT, FYE seminars may be conducted in person, online, or in a hybrid model (online and in-person).
- FYE section time-codes may be situated in the late evening to ensure the consistent participation of assigned first-year students throughout the Fall semester.
- The support of first-year students for Spring semester will primarily consist of outreach to first-year students individually and as needed; CAs will not teach FYE seminars in the Spring semester, with the exception of Transfer CAs. Transfer CAs may be asked to teach one FYE section in the Fall and one FYE section in the Spring semester.
