Silkroad Ensemble

Experience the Silkroad Ensemble with Wu Man: American Railroad on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.Tickets are $35, $25 for Quick Members, and $5 for Fairfield University students. Fairfield University and Prep Faculty and Staff enjoy one free ticket to each event, with additional discounts available for guest tickets. American Railroad explores the untold stories of the Indigenous, African American, and immigrant laborers who built the Transcontinental Railroad, those whose contributions were essential yet largely erased from history. Through this powerful program, Silkroad seeks to illuminate these voices and reimagine the cultural narrative of America’s expansion.

The performance features new works by Cécile McLorin Salvant, Michael Abels, and Silkroad artists Wu Man and Layale Chaker, alongside reimagined folk songs arranged by artistic director Rhiannon Giddens. Blending genres, cultures, and histories, this transformative concert offers an unforgettable evening of music that bridges past and present.
