Beethoven's Fidelio

After captivating audiences with a series of mesmerizing Live in HD performances, Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen returns to the Metropolitan Opera in Beethoven’s Fidelio. In this powerful tale of love and heroism, Davidsen stars as Leonore, a devoted wife who risks everything to rescue her husband from tyranny. She is joined by a stellar cast, including British tenor David Butt Philip as the unjustly imprisoned Florestan, Polish bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as the ruthless Don Pizarro, and veteran German bass René Pape as the conflicted jailer Rocco.

This highly anticipated production also features Chinese soprano Ying Fang and German tenor Magnus Dietrich as the young Marzelline and Jaquino, along with Danish bass Stephen Milling as the noble Don Fernando. Under the baton of Susanna Mälkki, the orchestra brings Beethoven’s only opera to life with soaring intensity and drama.
