Guest Speaker, Emma DeSouza: "When Citizens Decide: The Role of Youth, Women, and Communities in Advancing Northern Ireland's Peace Process"

Please join us Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 pm at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library's Auditorium, Room 101.  Guest Speaker Emma DeSouza, Founder and Co-Facilitator of Northern Ireland's Civic Initiative, a Northern advisor on peace processes and policy, and the Director of Northern Ireland Emerging Leaders Program at the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, will deliver a public lecture: "When Citizens decide: The Role of Youth, Women, and Communities in Advancing Northern Ireland's Peace Process."

Ms. DeSouza, a civic innovation specialist, peacebuilding and human rights consultant, and an accomplished writer and political commentator, will discuss human rights, identify, and citizenship in the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.  She will also discuss her work in the creation of the All-island Women's Forum, a new peacebuilding structure that brings women from all across Ireland to work collectively in addressing women, peace, and security.  In 2023, she founded the Civic Initiative, a new participatory structure that brings together a wide range of civic organizations to create space for dialogues on advancing and supporting peace, reconciliation, and wellbeing.  Following her lecture, Ms. DeSouza will field questions from the audience.
