Travel Endorsement Information for all International Students
As the holiday season approaches, we want to share some important travel information for international students regarding F-1 visa status. Many students may be planning to return to home countries or explore other parts of the world during this time.
Key Travel Information for F-1 Visa Students:
- Travel Signature Requirement:
- Before traveling, it’s essential for international students to have I-20 documentation signed by the Designated School Official (DSO). This signature is crucial for re-entry into the United States.
- Validity of the Signature:
- The travel signature is valid for one year while students are enrolled in their current undergraduate or graduate program. Planning ahead is important!
- Re-entry into the U.S.:
- Without the travel endorsement signature on the second page of the I-20 form, students will not be able to re-enter the United States. Make sure to obtain this endorsement before leaving.
- Ongoing Information:
- Throughout the semester, updates about the importance of obtaining travel endorsements whenever students exit the U.S. are provided. Please keep this in mind as travel plans are finalized.
Next Steps:
- Scheduling an Appointment for travel endorsement:
- Global Fairfield is located in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, room 107. Students can schedule an appointment with one of our International Advisors by emailing globalfairfield@fairfield.edu.
- Plan Ahead:
- Students need to consider the time required for processing and ensure that all necessary documents are in order before traveling.
