ADHD vs. Trauma: Assessment of Children & Adolescents in Primary Care Settings

Date: 11-18-2019

Time: 06:00 PM

Location: NHS 103/104

The overlapping symptoms frequently present in children with ADHD and those with trauma result in a lack of clarity regarding differential diagnosis and ineffective treatment planning with this population.  Previous studies have focused on the need to implement standardized screening for adverse childhood experiences in pediatric populations, but little has been done to educate pediatric Primary Care Providers (PCPs) on overlapping symptoms of ADHD and trauma.  Routine use of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) tool may contribute to early identification of traumatized children who otherwise go undetected. Pediatric providers should be well educated on the similarities and differences between ADHD and trauma, as well as appropriate screening tools that are available, to better address patient treatment options.

If you are a current or future pediatric primary care provider (MD, APRN, and PA), join us on November 18th for an educational presentation including discussion by a professional panel of experts on ADHD and trauma symptoms, differential diagnoses, and treatment planning.

**Contact Hours for nurses are available.  Those who attend and complete an evaluation of the effectiveness of the session before and after the presentation will be entered in a drawing for two gift cards to Norwich Day Inn and Spa.**
