Thank Your for Your Donation - UCA Scholarship Fund

JUHAN would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined in the  Sodexo Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon on Tuesday January 29, 2019 – and to Jim Fitzpatrick for making it possible.  

Through your donations, $545 will be donated to the Emergency Appeal for for Scholarships for students at the Jesuit Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) in Managua, Nicaragua.  As you know, since July, there has been an ongoing crisis in Nicaragua which has resulted in the government suppressing civilian demonstrations leading to over 500 deaths and 4,000 injured. Since July, there have been cuts and delays in the financial support the Nicaraguan government provides to the UCA. This, combined with the economic hardships that the families of UCA students are facing, has made scholarship assistance even more necessary. 

Your generous donations from last week’s lunch will be pooled with fundraising efforts of other Jesuit Universities to help students continue their education at UCA.
