This is the last talk on a series that explored the mathematics behind voting! Dr. Chris Staecker will discuss Ranked Choice Voting.

Abstract: Ranked choice voting is becoming popular in the United States! We'll discuss the basics of the method, along with why some people love it and others hate it. We'll also discuss some new research done here at Fairfield on the problem of predicting RCV election results using statistical modeling.

BioChris Staecker grew up in the Boston area and earned his PhD in mathematics at UCLA. He has been faculty at Fairfield University since 2009, and is active in mathematical research in topological fixed point theory and digital topology. He also has a Z-list YouTube channel with short videos on the history of measuring and calculating instruments
