Cybersecurity Awareness Month Tip - BE CAUTIOUS WITH UNEXPECTED EMAIL LINKS

Be Cautious with Links
  • Don’t click links from unknown sources, even if they seem legitimate; the sender may have been hacked or spoofed.
Check Suspicious Domains
  • Evaluate domains from right to left; the true domain is between the first slash (/) and the first dot (.).  For example, if ‘https://mail.fairfield.edu/webmail’ is the link, the domain would be ‘Fairfield.edu’.
Identify Tricky Links
  • Link text can be misleading. Always hover over links or buttons to reveal their actual destination and focus on the real domain name.
Q&A: If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at ITSHelpDesk@fairfield.edu or call (203) 254-4069.
