First Generation Scholars Fund

The Fairfield Humanities Institute is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative, the First-Generation Scholars Fund. Each fall, the Institute selects ten full-time Fairfield students majoring or minoring in the Humanities who qualify as first-generation students (no university degree completed by their parents) to award a $500 stipend for textbooks or other supplementary materials for the year. The awards, determined by both student achievement and financial need, are intended to promote greater access to an education in the humanistic disciplines and to mitigate obstacles to student success at Fairfield. The Humanities Institute is pleased to report that our first round of awards has been successfully distributed this fall, and we look forward to furthering the University’s commitment to providing a robust Jesuit liberal arts and humanistic education to all of our students.
