Call for CAE Faculty Liaisons
Date: 07-15-2024
The Center for Academic Excellence invites applications from full-time faculty across the university to serve as Faculty Liaisons during the 2024-2025 year. The Center seeks applicants who are enthusiastic about supporting faculty development and innovation in teaching and learning.
Faculty liaisons support the work of the Center in several ways, including: 1) facilitating communication and engagement between their school and the CAE; 2) conducting Mid-Semester Evaluations of Teaching (MATs); 3) taking a lead role in supporting a faculty development initiative, workshop or event; 4) consulting with faculty about their teaching; and 5) supporting and promoting the priorities of the Center.
For the 2024-2025 year, we are seeking applications from faculty with experience and interest in collaborating with the CAE and university partners in the following areas: 1) pedagogical uses of A.I. in teaching; 2) supporting faculty teaching for Bellarmine; 3) designing and teaching accessible courses; 4) designing and teaching inclusive courses; and 5) peer coaching.*
Compensation for faculty liaisons is $2,500 for one semester (liaisons are hired for fall, spring or full-year terms). We are also looking to hire liaisons to focus expressly on conducting MATs; these liaisons will earn $1,250 for a semester (please indicate if you are applying for the MAT-only position). Faculty interested in applying should send a one-page (maximum) description of their faculty development experience and interests with respect to one or two of the five areas of focus above (as well as their fall/spring availability) to cae@fairfield.edu by August 1, 2024. Questions can be directed to Emily Smith at esmith@fairfield.edu.
*Peer coaching is a voluntary, non-evaluative and reciprocal practice where colleagues engage in ongoing paired observations and conversations about each other’s teaching and learning.
