Beyond an “IDEA” – Toward a Culture of Teaching Effectiveness:

As educators, we care deeply about our impact in the classroom.  However, assessing our own teaching effectiveness can often feel difficult and confusing!  This semester’s FDEC Day focuses on collaborative conversations around teaching, our students, and our own continuous development as professionals.  While most faculty are familiar with teaching evaluation options such as peer reviews of teaching and student evaluations of teaching, there are many other tools that we can use.  These tools help faculty better understand their teaching effectiveness in terms of student experience and learning, providing additional information beyond what is received in a typical end-of-course IDEA form.  But more than that, these tools play a role in sustaining a community that is firmly grounded in teaching effectiveness.  Whether you are a seasoned professor or a junior member of the faculty, the Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee hopes you will join us for this fun and educational session!
