Hurricane Dorian Fundraiser: Thank You to the Fairfield University Community

Hurricane Dorian Fundraiser:  Thank You to the Fairfield University Community

In late August, Hurricane Dorian cut a path of destruction across large swaths of the Bahamas, including the northern island of Grand Bahama and the nearby Abaco Islands. The storm left widespread devastation and great humanitarian needs in its wake.  Students from FUSA, IRHA and our JUHAN / Humanitarian Action Club quickly mobilized to raise funds.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Fairfield University campus community for its generous response!   Your support for   our JUHAN, FUSA, IRHA student fundraising table as well as the St. Robert Bellarmine's Feast Day lunch raised an $1300!   These funds will provide much needed assistance to Bahamian residence affected by this humanitarian emergency through Catholic Relief Services which is provides immediate food, emergency shelter and safe water to affected families;  SBP which is working to support on-the-ground needs and to help provide a prompt, efficient, and predictable path home for families and communities impacted by Hurricane Dorian and the Hope Volunteer Fire and Rescue which will provide direct assistance to one of the communities which was especially hard hit.

We would also like to extend a special thanks to Jim Fitzpatrick for his assistance as well as Dunkin' for its donation of baked goods!
