Open House for Sandy Richardson's Retirement

Please join the Office of the Provost for an Open House to celebrate Sandy Richardson as she begins a new phase at Fairfield University. The Open House will be held in CNS 300 on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 2:30-4:30pm.

Sandy has been a valued member of the Fairfield community for over 18 years, providing students, faculty, and colleagues with the highest level of customer support in every role. For the past six years in the Office of the Provost, she has been our invaluable coordinator of winter and summer sessions, working with Department Chairs and Coordinators, and managing the complex schedules for a record number of offerings. Sandy’s extraordinary professionalism is surpassed only by her warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm for this important work.

Sandy began her career at Fairfield in September 2005 with what was then called University College, the academic unit that served part-time and non-traditional students. She was promoted to Program Coordinator while in University College and then joined the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office in 2012. Across her roles, she has supported the Interior Design program with Rob Hardy and the Jazz Workshops with Professor Brian Torff, while also coordinating programs such as Lifelong Learning, the Institute for Reading Development, and the Summer Institute for the Gifted. She has supported a variety of programs, from the Bachelor of Liberal and Professional Studies to the MFA. While in the College, she worked with four Deans: Robbin Crabtree, James Simon, Yohuru Williams, and Richard Greenwald.

We were blessed to be able to recruit Sandy to the Office of the Provost in support of Graduate, Continuing & Professional Studies when I joined the University. Sandy has been my right (and at times left) hand, a true partner in our work and mission, an advocate for students, and a cherished member of our Fairfield family. Working with her in this capacity has been a professional privilege and a personal highlight for me.

Although Sandy is retiring from her current role, we are pleased to share that she is remaining with the University in a new part-time role as Special Assistant to the Vice Provost. In this capacity, she will provide specialized and strategic support on a variety of initiatives while also allowing time for her to focus on her family and outside interests.
